Peter King

Dr Peter King is a sociologist with Parallax Research. He researches in the areas of poverty measurement, income distribution, and material deprivation.  He is experienced in research design and management, and the analysis of quantitative survey and economic data. Peter was prominently involved in the calculation and reporting of the now popularised living wage threshold for Aotearoa. more

Peter has designed and managed survey and in-depth interview based research and is experienced in the analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data. He is a Principal Investigator with the New Zealand Longitudinal Study of Ageing, an Associate investigator with the Ageing Well National Science Challenge, undertook the research for calculating the New Zealand living wage rate in 2012 and reviewing and re-calculating it in 2018. Peter aims to continue these research interests within ESRA and support ESRA research generally.
