
James is currently working on a PhD in Sociology at the University of Auckland focusing on the use of computation in the finance sector and how this can be appropriated for economic planning projects. Prior to sociology he studied in the departments of psychology, computer science, and philosophy. He has also worked extensively on projects relating to critical pedagogy, including facilitating an underground undirected study course.
As an activist, James has been involved in organising political action with We Are The University, Blockade the Budget, the Emancipatory Student Movement, Auckland Action Against Poverty, and Organise Aotearoa.
